McCain can't email, but invents Blackberry!
Asked what work John McCain did as Chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee that helped him understand the financial markets, the candidate's top economic adviser wielded visual evidence: his BlackBerry.

"He did this," Douglas Holtz-Eakin told reporters this morning, holding up his BlackBerry.  "Telecommunications of the United States is a premier innovation in the past 15 years, comes right through the Commerce committee so you're looking at the miracle John McCain helped create and that's what he did."

Maybe if McCain was able to use a computer he could have "done a google" and found that the Blackberry system is a creation of Research In Motion, a Canadian company headquartered in Waterloo Ontario.

LOL. Just another McCain deception. They're becoming comical in a way, if they weren't so tragic that is.

He is a Butt Head.

I ALMOST thought that I shouldn't buy the upcoming Blackberry Bold... then I decided that I should, since he won't be using them, properly.

To be fair. Al Gore got huge flack for supposedly claiming to have "invented the internet" when he really accurately stated that he helped write the bill that provided funding to help develop the nascent internet from Arpanet. Having not investigated what McCain did on the Commerce Committee, I have to admit its possible and likely probable that the McCain aide was trying to refer to some piece of legislation from the committee that helped fund or promote technology that was later involved in or was a basis of research for the Blackberry. The press should look into what the committee did, what role it had regarding the Blackberry, and what role McCain had in any such legislation. I don't trust the McCain people very much and I know they lie a lot, but at the same time they aren't morons and almost every lie they tell has some distorted basis in fact. Most likely McCain signed on to some telecommunications bill that included a grant or other funding for investment in technology that somehow contributed to the Blackberry. If the Democrats want to attack him intelligently they have to find out exactly what he did, instead of just pointing to the fact that the Blackberry was invented by a Canadian company, otherwise McCain will play the victim card and claim his record is being distorted by the big bad Democrats and given the supposed "liberal bias" of the press all the networks will feel obligated to give McCain's grievance a lot of coverage to show that they are being fair.

Well its is fairly proven that two guys from here in Kitchener Ontario, Jim Ballisle(sp) and Mike Lazarus(sp) made the program, coding and all that other stuff with the blackberry. In fact the first blackberry was made nearly 10 years ago as a two way pager, only in 02 was the blackberry made for emails, text etc.
So unless McCain had a hand in helping RIM out when it got into some legal troubles a few years back in the US, its safe to say, McCain didnt invent, build, code or anything to do with the blackberry.

I had a blackberry in 2000, it still worked on the paging network with no txt, web surfing, or anything cellular related, but it had email capability and integration with Outlook and Exchange. I can't remember how many characters you got per email, but it wasn't the entire thing. It was reasonable though.

I actually found the "pager" size without phone to be a lot more useful device for email. In fact, that was the whole reason we got them. The executive idiots wanted tech support to have cell phones and the last thing we wanted was to get phone calls from our VPs with McCainesque tech skills. The blackberries were a compromise. Instead of having to answer right away and talk them through restarting, we'd just email back "have you restarted your computer" and that was that.
